After my delve into my record collection last week, just wondering what peeps fave obscure bands are, I mean stuff that just just fit in with the normal dry ice, dark shades and doom

here's some of mine

Stump (tupperware stripper is a classic)

Dawn After Dark

Anti Nowhere League (not the punk band, but the band that did 'Perfect Crime' never did find anything more, shame)
Fiona Apple (mad as a bag of badgers, but yes I still would)
oh and my Paul Mckenna - Sleep like a log CD, doesn't do what it says it does but it's boring as feck and sends me off, that and a couple bottles of wine.

Roy Harper (don't be confused by the folky, hippy looks, this bloke was angry and a brilliant lyricist)
Todd Rundgren (see above sans the angry bit)
Head Of David (awesome live, never transferred to vinyl)
Entombed (the acceptable voice of Scandinavian Death Metal)
Shriekback (until Dave Allen, ex Gang Of 4 split)

it could have been worse, I saw Jesus and Mary Chain walk on stage, feedback for about 10 minutes then walk off claiming the set was completed!!! riot then ensued not that I endorse violence, but they had the cheek to call that a gig???!!!

Along with another Heartlander who frequents these shores occassionally, I'm a big David Sylvian fan. Japan made me curious but his solo stuff is out of this world. The man's a genius.

Japan 1977 demos bootleg - Punk/glam rock meets disco/funk on speed. I defy anyone to be able to last more than three tracks in a row. But someone, somewhere saw a glimmer of hope. And the boy done good, as they say.

You realise that was the night they came back on and did an acoustic set. A LOOP ACOUSTIC SET. It worked, though f**k knows how...

I had high hopes for Siobahn Doherty. The first Sugababes LP is actually OK and her first single was in the same vein. Record company gave up on her alas. She is a babe.

I remember them...mid to late '90s? Without looking it up, I recall that they only had one big song (air-play-wise). How many albums did they make?
