First cricket net of the season last night. Bloody Oww! What I need is one of those killer robots of The Incredibles to come and stretch me back into shape.

First match on Saturday - no doubt I'll still feel starched.

You're right , but it's also devilish fun wanging a small hard red thing at people in the name of sport. Not to mention smacking said small hard red thing over the horizon.

Very tinpot. They do have winter nets, but parking your car in the middle of Airedale estate in Castleford at nine at night is not a good idea. So I gave them a miss.

But for Saturdays game there's 6 (count 'em), 6 first teamers missing. Says it all.

Gaz is in a real bind this year - he's got too many players. He's struggling with who to drop. The average players who go to all nets, attend all meetings, attend all fund raisers...or the bloody fabulous players who only attend once every three sessions etc?

Easily sorted. He can send them over to us. Everyone wins, cos if they've even seen a cricket bat before, they're in!

In exchange, I'll send you my whites to sort out while you're at it . The missus won't go within fifty yards of them, possibly due to Loki's aforementioned ball-rubbing 'stains' .

Loki, you'd be amazed how much the ball swung . Outside off-stick to clatter middle-peg - a left-armers' dream.
