... for a Canadian wanting to cross the blue for a gig. Tired of waiting for the world to come to me, so I want to know what the euro population recommend in terms of cost, venue, ease of travel, accessibility, etc. for the traveller.
Depends if the rumoured UK gigs in Aug/Sep come off in which case it would probably be cheaper to come here than the mainland. But at the moment it's only rumours.

What rumoured UK gigs?
I hope they play in the UK, it's my only chance to see them.

I recommend you wait until UK dates are
announced.
I distinctly remember many people booking tickets
to Mainland European shows in March 2003
in the abscence of any UK shows,
only to find UK dates added sometime later.
That scenareo could occur again.
I'm sure this wouldn't be cynical financial
exploitation of an enthusiastic UK fan base now would it?

Another Shade of You.
I was planning on going to the Czech Republic at the end of July for my b'day, but now I think i'll go in mid-august!
Dodgy name though - Love Planet Festival

Choosing from the current line-up of shows, a Zurich-Wien-Tabor-Hildesheim route is probably easiest to do, especially if you land in Frankfurt. Czech republic is cheapest by far in terms of costs. Germany/ Switzerland/ Austria will drain your wallet much more.Methedrome wrote:... for a Canadian wanting to cross the blue for a gig. You can try and spend an day in Prague after Tabor show (it's 100 km away) to regain your strength - the city is cheap, nice-ish and tourist-firiendly, and beer there is Very Good.
If your budget doesn't allow for the extravagance, settle for the Wien-Tabor route and still spend a day or two in Prague.
Tabor is about 100 km from Prague. Here's a map (from Dominion) http://mapy.atlas.cz/mapviewer/mapviewe ... &id=552046Quiff Boy wrote:so is tabor near enough to prague to make a make it worth combining the event with a cheap flight & weekend in prague?
it might be worth combining a flight to Prague with gigs in Wien/Prague (Wien is 251 from Prague; haven't checked the map thoroughtly yet, but it looks like Tabor is on one of possible routes from Prague to Wien, although definitelly on of the most widely used one)

I would recommend M'era Luna. Great atmosphere and decent bands. I've bought my ticket...
...but I have noticed that Nick Cave and the boys will play at the Love Planet.. isn't that the ultimate line-up? ..grrr.

Yes probably.. They're only third on the bill.
What happens after the Tilburg gig when the Doktor walks off-stage mid-gig? Andrew has to cancel the entire tour, and before you know it ...
The Doktorhood release an album as a spoiler. "DOS".
Followed by a seminal conccept album "Percussionland".

Ok, this is going to sound horrible, but my mother's recurring cancer has once again put me in the mindset of "better live while you have the chance!" That said: I really, REALLY wanna go to some kind of Euro festie/event to see the Sissies (shhh! Don't tell ol' Von I called 'em that!), but also to get back to the Mainland for the first time in 19 years. I'm scared, but I feel like I *need* to do this. So - for a cash-poor girlie who'll undoubtedly be traveling alone, what's a good venue to attend? I checked out the M'era Luna lineup, and all I can say is, holy living sh1t.
I left my heart in Ballycastle...

it does! butt not as horrible as my damn topic it would appearSINsister wrote:Ok, this is going to sound horrible
it all depends, I don't think a festival gig is ever the sames (as good) as a actual concert.
so I would prefere the Tillburg above the german festival.
on the other hand, Lokeren has a bit of both....

If they will add any UK date, this trip will be only one side of the truth
