** NEWSFLASH **
We have recently been contacted by a relative of Tom's who has been kind enough to provide us with an update on his whereabouts! It would appear that he is married to an American girl called Rachel and did indeed move to Amercia (Atlanta, Georgia to be more precise) where they built their own house. Tom and Rachel now live there with their children: a little girl called Charlotte and a little boy called Lukas. Tom works as a freelance musician. We wish Tom and his family the best of luck for the future.
What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
No, but I've been to Atlanta and I loved the city.

** ANOTHER NEWSFLASH ** (25.01.04)
We have recently been contacted by Tom himself. Apparently he is unable to update is Tom@shton@Home site now he has moved state-side. However, we can reveal that he is currently working on a new music project called THE MULTIVERSE and is expecting to release a CD very soon! Track titles include "Pretty Wish", "Missile" and "New Friend". At present The Multiverse is a solo project but it sounds like he isn't ruling out the possibility of recruiting other members. Also, and this is the bit we are all quite excited about, he has very kindly offered to provide exclusive March Violets material for us to put on this site!
I always thought the March Violets' sound was comparable with the Sisters. Perhaps better!
What happened to this band?
Apparently Eldritch said they "turned around and bit" him, someone else says Eldo kicked them off his label when the Violets began selling more records than the Sisters. I always liked the March Violets but never knew anything about them.
PS. I really love this icon and I feel the need to tell someone....
.... there is no semblance of rock 'n roll around here!
Former-guitarist and founder member of The March Violets, Tom Ashton created this personal website in 2000, and it promised to be a great source of information, photographs and gossip. In 2001 Tom relocated to the States and began his new project The Multiverse (see below) and stopped working on his old site. He has kindly given us a copy of the March Violets section of his old site so we can host an archive here at MarchViolets.co.uk.
Hi everyone
Just thought I would add some thoughts on Tom's latest project, the MULTIVERSE. I got hold of his 3 track cd this week, and it's definately worth checking out...the songs are hard to describe, i guess sort of indie, ambient, dance! In particular, Pretty Wish and New Friends are well cool, and its the sort of stuff which I would have bought even without the Violets connection.
The cd is limited to 500 worldwide, so get one while you can. Another single is planned in a few months, with a full cd expected early next year.
cheers!

and there's some superb photos to come over the next week or two, courtesy of tom's own collection
but - isn't only me who can't see the photo http://www.marchviolets.co.uk/imagegall ... imon_D.jpg in full size?
I mean - if I click it to make it bigger there's only the upper side (no nose of Eldritch )
and - is it (technically) identical (resolution etc) to the same pic available on the previous MV site? I downloaded it from there but it seems to me this one on the new site is better (has better resolution)...
Quiff Boy wrote:nope, its exactly the same file as the one on the old mv site - tom sent me a copy of that site when he removed it, and has let me host a copy of it
can you not see the file? it could be the commas in the filename.
thanks
it's ok now (and yes, now it doesn't seem bigger or better - just as cool as it was, cool anyway).
in fact I don't understand why I didn't see more than half of the photo before - maybe it was a problem of my internet connection
