swing-o-meters, battlefields and the financial arse

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Elmet, my apparent constituency (it's miles away from us) has always been a Labour stronghold. Unfortunately, most of my neighbours don't realise there's even been a 'war' recently. And those that do no doubt think the 'towelheads' deserved it.

So, how exactly do we 'get there from here'? :?

How many candidates are standing in Sedgefield, ffs?

I've seen smaller orchestras on a stage!

Rochford & Southend East was the expected dull Tory landslide. Probably not too upset with how this is panning out. Couldn't see a viable alternative to Labour, but pleased that the majority will be trimmed a bit. Looks like the Tories still aren't making the kind of progress they've hoped for.

oh well, looking at the BBC's map, it's good to see Brighton/Hove/Lewes as a red/orange outpost amongst a sea of undead blue.

Overall, I think the result is pretty much what I expected, and probably as good as could be realistically imagined - Labour majority slashed (and hopefully their right-wing/authoritarian tendencies reined in a bit - we'll see) and LibDem seats increased.

I would have liked to see the tories reduced to third-party status (as just desserts for 1979-1997 and obviously because they're a bunch of racist homophobic bastards) but I guess I'll have to wait for another election for that.

Hey ho. John Battle got more than 3 times as many as the LibDem who came second.

Somerset(where I live) on the BBC map is Liberal Dem :notworthy:

My Brother told me he voted Conservative

I've only just started becoming aware, understanding and taking part in politics.

I thought the swing-O-metre was a bit weird last night, the whole thing felt like a game show.

Robert Killroy-Fuckface anyone?

Unfortunately, he didn't lose his deposit (he probably wouldn't care) but he was SO PISSED OFF. Perhaps he realized that he's a total political joke and loads of people think he's a twit. On the other hand, George Galloway got a 15,000 majority and he's a piece of s**t too.
