If enough people buy the albums then they will remain in the charts. As far as I know all albums are in the "chart" on the day of release.
I remember the new Iron Maiden went in at No.6 (i think)... a few days later it wasn't even in the top 40.
all 3 albums reissued with bonus tracks.

But what I was wondering is: can they chart at all as they are re-releases of previous released albums?robertzombie wrote:If enough people buy the albums then they will remain in the charts. As far as I know all albums are in the "chart" on the day of release.

For example, if you release a single on 12", 7", Maxi-CD, 2-track CD-single they all count as one release if 80% or more of the titles are identical.
(Yes, I'm vey interested in charts, sale figures, statistics of albums sales. Apart from a personal interest we have a course in school now called International Music Production, and are looking at other countries different organisations like BPI, IFPI, chart systems etcetc.)

I think the town Sint-Niklaas could suite me well...
Not sure but I think (and hope) that they can chart, that would be excellent!TheBoyNextDoor wrote:
Back on topic. Let's dream a little, is it possible at all for these albums to break in to the Top 100 (or 200 whatever) in the UK? Or is it impossible for them to chart when they are re-releases?

I don't think the albums need to chart at all to be profitable. Since they're just reissues they cost very little... and so the record company can expect big profits even if the sale are - relatively - modest.
Edit : and of course they didn't spend much on promotion either... which sometimes cost even more than the album itself !

Good point Eric, 'though everyone seems to have forgetten that today, we are a demographic: 30-40+, earning/expendable income/more leisure time etc.Badlander wrote:I don't think the albums need to chart at all to be profitable. Record companies have done the math (that's for oor Amerikan viewers) they know enough of us will cough up the dough to make a profit.
So what...?
... everybody's happy nowadays

For goodness sake. it's a re-issue with afew b sides on. this has alreadyWeirdSinisterGhostly wrote:This is a sign that new material is on the way. Vision Thing re-issue doesn't look that great. Could have included YCBTO.
Oh they did.
happened to just about every 80's indie/gothy band already:
so warner are doing it with the Sisters ? big deal.
Warner are cashing in on...what, exactly ? they are not about to
do a big tour: they've missed that boat.
Sign of new material on the way??? like, EH??
Someone re-issued all of all about eve's early stuff, and a load of
"hits" besides. was that a sign of new material ? no.
if warner were going to cash in on new sisters material they would
have released it at, or shortly after a new album release.
no such release is imminent.
I'm curious if there will be an iTunes release. That would be a great way to save a few bucks.
I've already bought Theatre of Hate's back-catalog about 5 times for a few extra tracks, don't need to do it for every band I like...

Didn't All About Eve release a new album last year?! am sure they did - and I think it had a cover of Aled Jones' Walking In The Clouds on it!Ocean Moves wrote:For goodness sake. it's a re-issue with afew b sides on. this has alreadyWeirdSinisterGhostly wrote:This is a sign that new material is on the way. New Model Army's reissues of a couple of years ago were utter shiiiite sadly - the 'rare extra' tracks were b-sides, most of which had already appeared on other compilations, while Thunder and Consolation disc 1 was stripped of three tracks which were included in the original cd to pad out the rarities disc 2!! what a bargain
Is this the place I used to know as Fatherland?

The NMA releases were done by EMI with no input from the band, so it makes sense that they weren't all the could be.deadagain wrote:New Model Army's reissues of a couple of years ago were utter shiiiite sadly - the 'rare extra' tracks were b-sides, most of which had already appeared on other compilations, while Thunder and Consolation disc 1 was stripped of three tracks which were included in the original cd to pad out the rarities disc 2!! what a bargain
Thunder and Consolation on vinyl didn't have those three tracks and the original CD was expanded to include them (they were all b-sides from the White Coats EP). The marketing dept said that the albums were restored to their original vinyl tracklisting but that case Marrakesh should've left of Impurity.
Record labels, don't you just love them?

I finally fully believe these reissues are coming out... well, at least, I 99.99% believe it.
But now they come out a day too late for a birthday present.

Hey First is pretty cool IF it is the real deal. Plus it is the first time we (hopefully) get a crisp hearing of the B sides. I'd love to hear a crisp version of Poison Door and On the Wire. The other 2 are not that interessting.
