This 'joke' links to racist and offensive language...
Obviously the OP is happy with this even in a 'post-modern' sense. I am not. I do not wish to be associated with such humour. As a lifelong socialist I do not need such language to go against my opponents.
I'm disappointed that this post has gone unchallenged and wonder what Eldritch (long time leftie 'anarcho-syndaclist') would think about a 'joke' linking to racist language of this nature...
I await the OP's defense with interest. Does this site have guidelines for posting btw?

It needs to be taken in the right spirit, there are still people who think like that these days and it's that concept that this "joke" highlights, it's like laughing at Alf Garnet, it's poking fun at people who actually believe that that language/thinking is OK/right/acceptable
I don't believe I'm racist because I got a giggle at it.

Thanks Keith. Don't really see a problem myself to be honest, but then again I come from a country where they call Tunnock's Teacakes N*****'s Tits and I was kindly explained last weekend that was not anywhere near acceptable language usage. People really shouldn't worry to much being PC as far as I'm concerned, it's not what you say, it's the tone you use when saying it.
When you're afraid of language, it's often only so because you're afraid of your own thinking.

My wife looked over my shoulder to see the word 'p*ki' on the computer screen...
I don't think her impression of Sisters fans is at an all time high at the moment.
PC is originally a Republican term to abuse liberal values btw...

Surly if She saw the Map She'd see the joke?, you can't tell me She now thinks all Sisters fans go around calling people "Pakis" , let's have a wee bit of common sensesilentNate wrote:My wife looked over my shoulder to see the word 'p*ki' on the computer screen...

Was it originally from Private Eye?
Racism isn't acceptable, but laughing at the fact that other people are racist is - what better way into shaming them?

Woah! I better have a look at this one, but before I do let me explain that I know the OP personally and you could not find a more outstanding specimen of a human being than this guy, same goes for scotty + the Hom_, if they find it amusing, I'm sure I will too.
update: richt, I've had a look and I know why Zed found it so amusing (you did some research work there my fine Tall Foreign Fellow ) and the bit at the top here is what he found funny:
this is from a Spitting Image book published in the 80s and is where I got the term Ghillie Jocko Land from.
No harm done, nothing to see, please move on.

I am terribly offended by Hom_corleone's paedophilia-inducing avatar.
And seeing Jame's avatar unleashes my deepest urges towards bestiality.
People should see a joke for what it is and laugh about it. Otherwise the world goes bottoms up.
Racism is a totally different matter and you should keep the two apart.
For the rest, no hard feelings whatsoever.

Can I just add...I am offended by the very suggestion that any of us could be laughing at the joke for any other reason than a Tory vision of the world may look like this (and the Jocko reference) - NOT laughing at the fact the map includes words like Paki. For gods sake

I didn't see owt racist about this one (also coming from a country that was "maligned" by it).
In fact, the only thing wrong is that "Walla-Walla Land" was missing.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

On the same general subject I saw some graffiti on the bus this morning that said "PAKES FüCK OFF"
Gotta love that badly-spelt racism

Reminds me indirectly of graffiti on a garage door near the primary school I went to. This is in the context that the west of Scotland was/is heavily invested in the whole Catholic /Protestant, IRA/UDA nonsense:markfiend wrote:On the same general subject I saw some graffiti on the bus this morning that said "PAKES FüCK OFF"
