THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.
they always used to use very old, very elaborate hardware that was always breaking down
I can't recall many doctor-related issues in live situations that would fit into that statement. Besides you still can get replacement for most components very cheap on the second hand market. I bought my Akai a few years ago for <100€ in top condition and there's still stuff available in very good condition (cd-rom/zip drives..) that should last another decade or two - everything pretty cheap since noone feel the need to dig into this kind of vintage technology.
Of course there's no doubt that software solutions are way more portable but tbh I don't know how they could manage to fill three huge 19inch rack trolly's with stuff you can easy fit into a third of these rack units - probably a bit showcase there

however, over the last couple of si has convinced him to move stuff gradually to a more portable solution, hence the mac book pros.
presumably this is also why nurse is pretty much a permanent fixture on stage with them these days... ?
Yeah, I think they are still checking their new stuff out ... they tried've such a lot of different soundscape dynamics during the tour this year ... ...

Quiff Boy wrote:ah yeah, the black planet video shoot... there was a post around here somewhere that linked to the original blog that he video director wrote... interesting stuff (including a bit about them teaching andrew to drive iirc)
it has been posted before, but its always good to bring these things back every now and again for the newer folks

Don't ever let demolitionsisters hold a baby.
No worries, I don't think they'll let him near his own ... ...

Looks like Steinberg Cubase to me, according to the coloring sceme and especially the Transport Bar in the bottom.

Yep, I agree. I don't think the boys are into Pro Tools ...
Now with this new triple-Mac Doc
, did you think they still using cubase?
The man himself said in a radio interview with a NZ station (back when the original NZ - OZ gigs were still on a few months ago) that they now use Cubase. Out of the mouths of, eh,... Never mind.

The many faces of the good Doktor, or the 'Beatz Bratz', to use the technical collective term. Not by any means an exhaustive round up here, but these are probably the Dok's prettiest incarnations. For me personally though, the more anonymous he gets visually, the better he sounds.

Where's me Kleenex!
The second machine seems to be 'censored' a bit, of course that's the famous Roland TR 808...

It's a smorgasbord of vintage tech porn, alright. Speaking of which, yeah -clearly someone takes offence to the term '808' - maybe in machine code it's a highly offence remark about one's midi thru.
At the moment, I am mostly chilling to De Te Fabula Narratur live.

Wouldn't mind at all, Being - thanks. Always found the Doc's pic on the Wiki to be a tad odd and menacing, and therefore pretty cool - but I guess it's time for a change, eh?
