On the Sex Wax n Rock n Roll FB page John Ashton wrote: Alice 8:2 Mixer. I used one just like this as the front end for my trusty Tascam Portastudio 144 on which I recorded the demos I produced for the Sisters Of Mercy in 1982 at Andrews house in Leeds.. The songs were Alice, Floorshow, 1969, & Good Things. The following week we were all off to Kenny Giles Studio in sunny Bridlington to do it all again but this time on an 8 track machine! The rest as they say, is history. Footnote: On the way there Craig Adams serenaded us with an a cappella version of Bohemian Rhapsody that went on for a good portion of the journey. Fun times!
You can see the Mixer photo on the FB page where there are links to other great videos :

Very interesting. As much as it may "kill the mystery" my inner music gear and production nerd gets a big kick out of stuff like this (just hearing him talk about manual step sequencing on old drum machines.... how's that for "hands on"!) For instance I would LOVE to see a Classic Albums (or some such) documentary on the making of F&L&A.

Great piece! I really enjoyed that. Funny to think of them playing their respective 'Alice's' too each other! I was always curious if there was any overlap between the two.
Nice to hear him talk so generous about those times and Andrew, especially when there's no obvious mention of him getting a production credit on the records.

Great thanks.
A historical track for me.
It would be nice to get the link to old discussion of the song's lyrics.
They are still unclear to me

There was a credit on the label of the record itself.bangles wrote:Great piece! I really enjoyed that. Funny to think of them playing their respective 'Alice's' too each other! I was always curious if there was any overlap between the two.

Standing corrected. I'd only looked at the 12" presuming the credits would be the same on the 7". Although going by what John is saying in the video, it sounds like he produced the e.p. not just the single?Nikolas Vitus Lagartija wrote:There was a credit on the label of the record itself.bangles wrote:Great piece!
