HELP ... no pictures shown any longer

For you to give feedback to the Heartland moderators. Wish lists, fault reports, etc. You may get an answer, you may not. As in all things, it largely depends on how nicely you ask the people in charge... You're welcome.

Please help anyone ...
I cannot see the pictures here any longer.
https://www.myheartland.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=20581

The topic is loading endlessly, and although I fully allowed the page in the browers settings, no pictures are shown ... :( ...

I have no idea what to do ... :( ... all those lovely shirt pictures ...   ...

They seem to be okay for me
Image

It might be a photobucket (where they are hosted) server undergoing maintenance. I've seen images disappear at times because of that. Check photobucket on is it down right now? & see what you get.
Cheers.

It all looks fine from my end too. Perhaps a browser caching issue?

No photobucket is not down. It looks like a problem with Firefox, but I've already fully allowed the page and it still doesn't load ...

And it is a problem of certain pictures only. When I check the Currently Listening thread for example this page
https://www.myheartland.co.uk/viewtopic ... &start=675
it also doesn't show all of the pictures and loads and loads the page endlessly ... some pictures are just excluded, there's not even a place marker ... :( ...

It doesn't look like since most pictures are shown ... seems to be a problem with photobucket pictures only ... and all over HL, not only in one specific thread ...

Wow! That's very odd & sounds definitely like a FF/ PB compatibility issue
Just fired up FF here (1st time in a while) & images still seem to load okay

Image

I don't have any extensions/ addons installed though. That's the only thing I can think of that could do this.
My suggestion would be to disable them one by one until you hit on a possible "suspect"

Also, not sure if this is any use

Hmm - I can partially corroborate what Being645 is seeing.

Curiously in some posts (like post #688 on https://www.myheartland.co.uk/viewtopic ... &start=675) I have checked the raw HTML and can see markup for images that are not displaying. The HTML is:

Code: Select all

<span class="postbody"><a href="http&#58;//s44.photobucket.com/user/Swinnow/media/image_zpsqjxep2bn.jpeg.html" target="_blank" class="postlink"><img src="http&#58;//i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/Swinnow/image_zpsqjxep2bn.jpeg" border="0"></a>
<br>

<br>
I love the world, but the pre-2016 version of it <img src="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" border="0"><br>_________________<br>....if I have to explain, then you'll never understand....
<br>

<br>
JFT96 - Never buy The S*n</span>
Curiously, any images delivered over SSL are displaying normally, so not sure if it's a Photobucket problem or a problem in FF with non-SSL images displaying on a page delivered via HTTPS

Edit to add: just seen some images delivered via HTTP, so that's not the problem. So probably a problem with Photobucket. I presume Photobucket use a CDN, so it could depend on which Photobucket CDN server/location gets chosen to deliver the photo when any one person makes the HTTP call (in other words, it'll work for some people, but not for others)

Thank you all, and thanks Paul!

I've checked all browser settings and my firewall settings and I see no solution.
In the afternoon, all of a sudden the pictures in the shirts thread were shown
... so I got the link to the photobucket storage - where they all display perfectly well ...
not those from the Currently Listening thread, however, (i.e. all the pictures from Swinnow for example).
Very funny, especially as now after I had shut down my notebook for a few hours, the shirt pictures do again not display
... only directly on photobucket ... omg ... lol ...
*sigh ... perhaps there's gonna be a new firefox version soon and all these issues simply disappear ... ...

I'm glad that you can access them directly now Sabine,I must confess I stopped using Firefox over a year ago when I became bored with it crashing EVERY DAY!!!!!
I'll try and get the update done that I promised you this weekend.

... no worries as to uploads, Dave ... although I'm always curious to see your recent acquisistions ... :D ...
Btw, you may have seen (or maybe not) that I'm doing a Sisters Tours List in the SistersWiki and it were nice to have some pictures of the according t-shirts and merchandise there.
So I would like to make use of yours time and again, if you don't mind ... :D :?: ...

With firefox I've hardly ever had any problems so far .... maybe these issues are due to their recent invention of multiple "profiles" ... :? ...

You are more than welcome to use my photos and link them to the respective tours. I would be honoured.

So here's what "fuckobucket" says:
What's with these add-ons?

Add-ons/extensions can affect your browsing experiencing by causing your computer to stop responding. Most add-ons require that you give your permission before they are installed, however, some may be installed without your knowledge if the add-on was part of another program.

Because of this, you may want to disable all add-ons/extensions to see if that solves any problems you are experiencing with the Photobucket site.

The steps to do this are different for each browser:

Internet Explorer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... y-computer

Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/di ... ve-add-ons

Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/187443

Also, if you use any AVG antivirus software, there may be an extension that was automatically installed onto your browser called "Do Not Track", which could affect your browsers performance. Steps to disable this extension are listed here: http://www.avg.com/us-en/faq.num-4902

You will also want to disable Ad Block Plus completely, then refreshing your browser. Ad Block causes numerous issues with the way the site functions, and simply adding Photobucket as an exception does not resolve those issues.
Phh, thanks.

Erm, yeah, that advice looks an awful lot like "We won't let you see our images unless you let us track your browser". :urff:

Disabling anti-tracking addons and ad-blocking addons is an unreasonable request IMO.

Although having said that, I think my copy of Firefox is taking things a bit far:
Your connection is not secure

The website tried to negotiate an inadequate level of security.

en.wikipedia.org uses security technology that is outdated and vulnerable to attack. An attacker could easily reveal information which you thought to be safe. The website administrator will need to fix the server first before you can visit the site.

Error code: NS_ERROR_NET_INADEQUATE_SECURITY
Wikipedia? insecure? I somehow doubt that... ???

So it's time to say goodbye to Firefox?

But what is the alternative? IE-Track and GoogleFullSpyChrome are even worse ... :urff: ...

You could try Safari.
I'm using that with an ad blocker & have no problems at all with photo bucket.
The only downside (not a biggy) is it doesn't play well with mega

Good luck. It'll be a pain in the erse to get used to a new browser but other than Opera, I can't think of another option. You should be able to import your bookmarks from FF pretty easily too which will save a load of heartache

The Windows version of Safari is seriously out of date (2012).

I'd strongly suggest avoiding it because of the 5 years worth of exploits that have built up since its release. Try Chrome instead.

PS Firefox works fine for me, but YMMV.

Oh! Thank you for the heads-up!!! ... ...

Safari seems to work fine, though. Unlike the Tor Browser which doesn't show the integrated vids in the SistersWiki unless I open all doors ... seems somewhat absurd to me.
Chrome is beyond discussion as I expect only the worst from everything close to Google ...

... and wondering what "YMMC" might mean, I checked for a Firefox update and indeed there was one ... eventually today ...

Updated now, and ... all pictures are back ... hah, sigh ... Firefox is just the best ... ;D ;D ;D ...
