Quite liking it, though it seems there are more Carl Marsh vocals and less Barry Andrews vocals than I’d like. “Slowly At First, Then All At Once” is quite lovely, and definitely the standout so-far.
I found out about this album a few days ago, and as far as I can tell, it's literally not available anywhere. It' s not on any streaming or download services, there's no copies for sale on Discogs, eBay, Amazon or anywhere else, it's not even mentioned on shriekback.com. It's bizarre. I've never seen a recently released album that's just straight up isn't available anywhere.

I believe the album was crowdfunded & that those who pledged cash got the album ahead of the release in January
Here's a short video about it.

Yep, exactly right. I just received the physical CD today, along with a signed book of selected lyrics with commentary. I am not sure of the exact official release date, but I'm sure it is soon.Pista wrote: ↑29 Dec 2021, 14:53Hello @X2000 & welcome to Heartland.X2000 wrote: ↑29 Dec 2021, 14:23I created an account here just to ask, where on earth did you get a copy of 1000 Books?sultan2075 wrote: ↑07 Dec 2021, 15:25 The brand-new Shriekback album, 1000 Books. The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside.

A hundred years of blood
Crimson
The ribbon tightens round my throat
I open my mouth
And my head bursts open
A sound like a tiger thrashing in the water
Thrashing in the water
Over and over
We die one after the other
Over and over
We die one after the other
One after the other
One after the other
One after the other
One after the other
It feels like a hundred years
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

How is it?
I remember the early sessions that were on AM radio & so they were all hissy & muffled.
Looking forward to a clean version
