Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Yeah, and speaking of that: I thought Belgians only spoke French..? You know, like Hercule Poirot, who was always indignant when folks mistook him for a Frog... :?:
We speak Flemish (the GOOD kind of Dutch ) oop Norf, Wallon (French, no good there ) doon Sarf, and a bit of German in the Far East.

Great idea, Claire. I've picked the below as I just find the choice of language totally fits the mixture of grief and inwardly directed anger. I have an automated translation which gives me the gist of things, but I've not seen a fully realised one - anybody care to do me the honour ?

As rightly said at the start of the thread, though, you almost don't need to know the words to that extent -

My Dying Bride - Sear Me

Incendere suus
Damnare suus vita
Dare suus ad art ventus

Capare suus
Et facere suus
Ferire suus persicum cutis

Nudus, turpis,
Putridus, findere,

Acerbus, crudus,
Raptus, contemptio,

Mordax, atterere,

Inficere, bilis,
Nam tuus scelus

Amabilis
Tu licet perire

Ad ante tu
Habere aequus sic
Dolor nil finis

Ego liberare art ultimus
inuria.

Maybe it makes more sense if you change "Einstein" to "Ein Stein" (a stone)?

Like this:
mh wrote:
Ein Stein ist auf dem Strand nun
Und die Fahnen flattern
Ein Stein ist auf dem Strand nun
Traenenbenetzte Augen
Und der Wind laesst den fliegen
Handgranaten
KAMPFBEREIT
No idea what it means though, but it just flows so well.

Ja, Sinny, ik probeer Vlaanderen te leren. Maar mijn Nederlands is erg slecht  .

Anyway!

That Plastic Bertrand song has been driving me nuts for the past few months as it's on some car advery or something just now. Bloody Belgians, I can't wait until global warming sinks you lot under the North Sea, I really can't... :P

I always find Rammstein's lyrics incredibly daft :urff:

I agree wholeheartedly, although Seeman is an exception from their usual lyrics. I like the gay sailor-Lili Marleen-style.

P.S. before the global warning gets us mainlanders, you'll be all nuked to pieces by the Iranians. ;D

Ah, well, U is mainly Flemish, a bit like the French say vous and the Germans Sie - so considered slightly more polite, though I usually do it the other way round  - whereas jou is more or less more A(B)N and more commonly used in the Netherlands. Flemish people also tend to say gij/ge, but Dutchies consider that to be a more biblical term, in Flanders it's just the third step, even more informal  Hope you understood that, I hardly did   Anyhow, it's not considered something of great importance any more nowadays what you do use,
