From the 1980-1985, I am aware of some ten unreleased songs, some of which were recorded (I think) during the Black October/FALAA sessions. So I gather that these songs were - at some time - meant to be included in FALAA:
- Dance on glass (to become Black planet)
- Red skies disappear (to become Rock and a hard place)
- Serpent's kiss (> The Msision)
- Garden of delight (> The Msision)
Other demos from the same period not to be included would be:
- Wide receiver (Eldritch's guitar lesson practice)
- Emma (no cover on an album)
- Knockin' on heaven's door (no cover on an album)
Older demos that precede the FALAA era, and excluding cover versions:
- Driver
- Some untitled instrumental
- Burn alternative lyrics
- Where spirits fly
- Good things
So:
- Did I miss any unreleased stuff from 80-85, apart from some changed lyrics such as for Walk away?
- Were Serpent's kiss and Garden of delight meant for FALAA or for Left on...?
- I once read something on songs written for Left on msision and revenge, but can't find the thread. Anyone?
- Does anybody know of (or have) unreleased tracks from the Floodland or - lord knows - Vision Thing eras?
Tracks not on FALAA
I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven. Can you hear it? It's like when you put your head to the grass and you can hear the growin' and you can hear the insects.
Marian-Red Sky... is an early version of FALAA isn't it?kazamel wrote:From the 1980-1985, I am aware of some ten unreleased songs, some of which were recorded (I think) during the Black October/FALAA sessions. So I gather that these songs were - at some time - meant to be included in FALAA:

And didn't Gary write Spirits in mid/late '84 making it a FALAA album reject track?
Is this the place I used to know as Fatherland?

Never really thought about that. As I have it on Rough Diamonds, I just assumed it dates from 1983 or so.deadagain wrote:And didn't Gary write Spirits in mid/late '84 making it a FALAA album reject track?

was there ever any intention to release "the (unreleased) floorshow ep" or was it merely demos that were bootlegged?

Wasn't it a sort of semi-official release originally?

According to Wayne's sleevenotes on the First Chapter reissue, Wake can be added to the list of FALAA rejects too. Presumably an instrumental version, though.
There's also Torch, which dates from the "Left on..." era, but it's not really unreleased, is it?

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Another great pic of young Andrew i've never seen on that lp cover. If he ever releases again, i hope he does some inspired photo-sessions.

true. i see i'm mixing up things that were common knowledge for me when I was still young. alzheimer...Tidal wrote:I think the "untitled instrumental" you're referring to is from the Floodland Demos, not the FALAA era.
by the way, is this an authentic track?
the upgraded instrumental version of driver. never knew what to think about that onelachert wrote:he think probably about "candle". it is from falaa session.
is wake a track that the msision released? i never came across a sisters recording for this.mh wrote:According to Wayne's sleevenotes on the First Chapter reissue, Wake can be added to the list of FALAA rejects too. Presumably an instrumental version, though.
Is Torch the only track we know of that was meant to be on "Left on ..."? I suppose it was too soft to put it on Gift then...mh wrote:There's also Torch, which dates from the "Left on..." era, but it's not really unreleased, is it?
So, unreleased tracks are:
FALAA
- Dance on glass
- Red skies disappear
- Serpent's kiss
- Garden of delight
(- Wake)
(- Candle)
Left on a m*****n and revenge
- Torch
Floodland
- Untitled instrumental
Vision thing

the most excellent and unappreciated (even doubted as being genuine at one point) wide receiver was definitely a product of the FALAA sessions -albeit just von and the doktor- according to mr. marx.

just listen to it right now and it dosn't sound like from falaa session definitely. much earlier.kazamel wrote:the upgraded instrumental version of driver. never knew what to think about that onelachert wrote:he think probably about "candle". it is from falaa session.
long live rock'n'roll
Yup, a response to the whole Sisterhood affair, hence my deduction that it was probably an instrumental (like Serpents) at the time.kazamel wrote:is wake a track that the msision released?mh wrote:According to Wayne's sleevenotes on the First Chapter reissue, Wake can be added to the list of FALAA rejects too. Me neither, and it's possible that Wayne's recollection could be faulty here, but it's the only info either way that we have on it.i never came across a sisters recording for this.

I bought this at the weekend, and was just about to say the same thing! seems a bit strange that its never turned up, seeing as all the others have.mh wrote:According to Wayne's sleevenotes on the First Chapter reissue, Wake can be added to the list of FALAA rejects too. Well, I dunno; Never Land (long version) and SKOS (early Demo) never made it out until the Sisters album reissues...

Quite true that.
Also, there was never any reason to suspect that either existed before they were released. Particularly in the case of Never Land: we'd speculated for sure, but all evidence (and some fairly strong denials from Von) indicated that there was no such animal. True, we had the demo, but so far as the real thing with the extra lyrics was concerned, it was a total bolt from the blue.

Whoops, cross post.
BB is interesting. There is an early demo of it (sans-whoops) alright, so it's certainly a very early Mish track, but I'll have to dig out my copy of First Chapter to see if there's any indication of it's origins.

Could be true, although the title suggets it's a reaction to the split-up. Well, it is in Dutch (to burn your bridges = breaking with your past). Then again, Walk Away would also have been directed to Gary while he was still in the band, so they have a record of concealed messages to eachother.lachert wrote:what about "bridges burning"? someone somewhere said that this one was alsow prepare for upcoming "left on the..." album
