but correct grammar would be tell her where the sun shines brightly -- it's an adverb qualifying the verb 'shines'.

There's been a lot of talk in this thread about religion. Presumably this stems from the tarot line as nothing else even comes close - but Tarot cards aren't used in any religion and have no real association with one. They're used in fortune telling and are otherwise just decorative playing cards but there's no religious connection at all. The association with the crystal in the song (and the use of the word "spread") make clear that it's a reference to fortune telling and probably, in the popular imagination, to the occult in general.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

I read an interview where he said the line "Pass the crystal/Spread the tarot/In Illusion comfort lies" was a comment on how black magic is little more than a substitute for intelligence/intelligent comments...summat along those lines.

Tarot and crystal balls are just devices used by occult practitioners to help with their natural intuition and divination. A lot of wiccans use tarot in this way. Tarot, the I Ching, chicken entrails, they're all used for similar purposes.

It's not entirely appropriate to lump it all in with 'black magic'. :wink:

However if there is the chance that Eldritch is misinformed about this, then it will be reflected in his lyric writing.

i don't know, but as far as i can tell he's never been anything other than mocking/critical* about the occult, religious extremism, and the more novelty of mainstream religions (such as creationism).

i get the impression that religion (be it organised, mainstream or fringe) just doesn't figure into the equation.

he seems a very secular person, more concerned with humanistic matters that have a direct impact on the individual and on society to be bothered about nonsense notions of godhead or the divine :roll:

note his attitudes to animal welfare vs human welfare...
