I give up. Some people seem determined to perpetuate the bad feeling, and my harping on about it will only encourage them. So I've decided to take a break from HL. I'm not flouncing off in the huff, it's just not a nice place to be any more. I may come back or I may not, but for now I don't particul...

i thought it was obvious in this instance that i wasnt joking or being conciliatory- i was pissed off and being confrontational with intent to upset. :? how do you fight back where you come from? :?: I thought I'd made it clear I was asking everyone to stop fighting. We're all pissed off and look w...

OK, as I've been named x times as one of the obviously guilty ... I see that I've partly behaved like in this lovely video (and worse) with the clear difference that I lack (lost) the humour that is thankfully present there ... Personal attacks and shouting rounds are neither helpful nor pleasant. ...

well doesn't that say it all. i only just read this as i could see a vigorous and heated debate starting a few days ago and as i often do thought i'd read it all at once. forget ched evans though: maybe this schism was long overdue. i'm sick to f**king death of people attacking my friends on here -...

First, let me make clear that of course I agree mods have every right to personal opinions. That argument was unfair and unworthy. However, I do agree HL isn't as nice a place as it was. I don't think it's entrenched opinions, though, or taking sides. I think it's simply that some people here (and n...

If the article was actually funny, I might have some sympathy, but saying musicians shouldn't voice their opinions on big issues, or that being wealthy invalidates any opinion on poverty or homelessness is just mean-spirited. And if a song's well-written, then the subject can't make it a bad song. I...

Attempted the dwarf musician and had a nervous breakdown just doing the base! I hate it when that happens. There's one of Satoshi Kamiya's Dragon models that I've tried folding three times and I still can't do it. One of his weird half-sink-unsink folds and whoops the paper rips. At exactly the sam...

I've never tried any of Eric Joisel's models, but a quick look at his old site is pretty daunting! Well, you weren't wrong. Attempted the dwarf musician and had a nervous breakdown just doing the base! Having got that far, I will be foolhardy enough to try and finish it, but I definitely won't get ...

It's really strange, but the last Sisters gig I was at - Manchester Ritz last year - didn't feel like that at all. It's very subjective though. In fairness I haven't been for a while, but that's because I wasn't prepared to go any more, and still am not. Even when people say they've improved, "...

The Doktor's the only drummer I know of who fits in a case. :D :D :D (Though some may have tried but let's not go there :) ) Ah yes, the famous incident of Siegfried and Roy stuffing Phil Collins in a flight case, and sticking swords in it. They claimed they were just rehearsing for their sta...

It's a habit of Von-bashing that started already in the early days ... and was happily continued by ... they know who they are. In my case it comes from going to gigs and continually coming away thinking I'd wasted my money, because all I could hear was a tuneless mumble. Most of the time I didn't ...

Thought of all of those, but can't do recognisable models. Clues (such as sugar cubes) and clever hints would be great for one of those puzzle pictures, but for something like this, people need to see it straight away or they'll just go away confused. But I've now done my ten lords in their hunting ...

Who’s to say that Von isn’t doing the songs the way HE wants them to sound currently? If he wanted them to sound the same as they did back in the day, he’d surely do that wouldn’t he? He certainly doesn't want anyone to hear the vocals. Or much else other than white noise. But I think the c...

Re: Wayne interview in Glasgow Live 3/10/16
Full Interview More stuff about Corgan & 12 string guitars. Personally, I think "jingle jangle" is the wrong description. I'd have said "shimmering". It's much more goff :D He says "shimmer" too. Jingle jangle shimmer. I've always thought of them as jangly guitars.

I know. I'll probably fail miserably, but nothing ventured. I might at least get something usable. And if not, the figure I've used to make the lord is quite variable (it's already appeared as three of my dancers), so that's a fallback. As far as lords are concerned, I think we may have a winner. Th...

Ooh blimey I've never attempted anything by Eric Joisel. There might be something in his work that could do as a Lord? One of John Montroll's books has an origami twelve days of Christmas but the models are little better than generic birds and people really. Neither have I, and your reaction doesn'...
